True Runner? You Decide
‘TRUE’ RUNNERS WORLD – ED. 12
What’s Up –
I have a confession to make. I’m currently running anywhere between 4 – 8 miles, 3 – 4 times per week, mostly on the trails. Occasionally, I hit the track. Rarely, the pavement.
But every 3 weeks or so, I have to alternate to the treadmill or stationary bike for a week or so, sometimes totally shutting things down because of reoccurring knee & achilles problems.
It’s just falllout from past injuries.
I also do some weight lifting and interval training at times Throw in couple of other things too, but those trails are MY THING.
In other words, I’m no elite endurance athlete, unlike quite a few of you. And it’s all good. I’m cool with it.
*****The Real Runner Scheme*****
What if what you’ve heard about Real Runners is just wrong? Would you keep being brainwashed, doing the same things and getting the same results? Or would you try something new and radically different? To stop the madness,
GO HERE before this special report is removed.

Some of you may have read Robert Ringer’s book, ‘Winning Through Intimidation’ (if not, go check it out). In it, he talks about the tactics people use to demean what others do. An example being the use of certain words to bad-mouth others.
You can also easily apply it to the tactic of rejecting & demeaning others by placing them in a group one feels they belong.
A prime example being a conversation I was recently a part of. I’ll spare you the specifics, but basically this guy insinuated (indirectly) that I somehow hadn’t earned the right to have a sincere interest in distance running because of my current training.
He’s an avid marathoner and he made sure I knew it. The fact I wasn’t, he appointed himself the judge of what type of runner I should be labeled as.
In another life, rest assured this conversation would have taken a whole different tone. I would have welcomed the opportunity to go ‘toe – to – toe’ with him (verbally of course).
We could have sat there and traded past verbal athletic accomplishments (high school & college) all day..that no problem.
Then, let’s see whose credentials would hold up.
But I have to admit I respected his ego, enthusiasm & dedication to his RUN.
≡≡ But whenever you hear words thrown out at you, attempting to negatively classify your running, immediately turn an eye to this person. ≡≡ More often than not, you’ll notice a chink in their armor. Their attempt at displaying some type of superior authority is usually an act.
Think about it for a moment…
True runners would not spend a second of their time demeaning less successful runners. That’s a step backwards in their eyes. They’re constantly moving forward in their own RUN game, whether it’s physically, intellectually, emotionally, etc.
Any attempt to use words or some other tactic to label what you do with your run would be come from a positive place.
Otherwise, consider the possibility you are a threat to them. That’s right, regardless of the fact you currently aren’t at their level.
Or despite their ‘supposed’ advanced runner status, it still isn’t enough for what really ails them. True runners get a chuckle out of this. Not at their misery, but the tactics they use in the hopes of demeaning someone else.
There’s a certain set of behaviors that create true runners and a certain set that will destroy them. If you want to become a true runner, it’s actually pretty simple: Do the things that create them, and avoid the things that destroy.
A true runner looks past these tactics aimed to distract. Those other runners hope you become a member of the weak & miserable. But only you can determine what nonsense you want in your runner’s space.
In the end, it’s your results that matter –-not the opinions of those runner’s who’ve proven to be failures in what you WILL to succeed in. And that is…
Becoming a true runner.
Sounds like a no-brainer to me. What’ll you think?
